Rent Controls in Barcelona

Barcelona, like London, is a top spot for tourism and short-term lets (Airbnb) are pushing up rents for private tenants in the City. Landlords in Barcelona who want to let to tourists have to get a licence from the Mayor, Jaume Collboni.  To address the problem of rents, Mayor Collboni has just announced that he intends to scrap licences within the next four years so that tourist flats become a thing of the past.

We believe that London Mayor Sadiq Khan should have similar powers and will be calling on the newly elected Government after 4th July to give the London Mayor the power to curb rents in London by similar means.
